Tutorial Council

At Mahatma Gandhi  College , a tutorial council functions with the aim of addressing the scholarly and personal problems of the students  as part of which individual care and attention is given to students , if the need arises. Weak students are identified and tutorial/remedial coaching programmes are conducted . If it is necessary in individual cases, professional counseling is also given to students with the help of a qualified clinical psychologist under the supervision of Student Welfare Cell. Ensuring all round development of all students is the aim of  Tutorial Council.

Tutors will closely watch the conduct and progress of students under their care. Tutors may direct their wards to students’ grievance redressel cell for guidance and counseling. It serves the following functions also:-

1)            Implementation of Tutorial/Remedial Coaching Programmes

2)            Good Inter-personal relationship between Teachers and students.

3)            Value education.

4)            Class wise PTA Meetings.

5)            Prepare time table for tutorial programmes.

6)            Ensure general discipline on the campus.

PKMM Trust

P.K Muralidharan Memorial Trust

                Sri P.K Muralidharan had been an inspiring presence of the Mathematics faculty who made a unique mark of his own through academic excellence and personal benevolence among the students and the staff of M.G College . His promising life and career was cut short when an accident put an end to his earthly existence in 2001.

                 Instituted by Sri. Ramkumar in memory of his son,  Sri. P.K. Muralidharan memorial Endowment Fund envisaged the following activities for the welfare of the student  community.

General Discipline


1.Be clean and decorous in dress, decent and polite in language and behaviour.

2.Respect your elders and teachers.

3.Courteous behaviour towards students of the other sex becomes a true ‘mahatma Gandhian’.

4.Do your best to maintain the peaceful academic atmosphere of campus.

5.As soon as the prayer bell is heard, pray till the next bell, standing still and observing perfect silence. This is the best way to begin the day’s work.

6.Do not disfigure the furniture, windows, doors and walls with draw- ing, engravings and writing.

7.Remember that you are here primarily to study. You don’t  gain anything and the college is discredited when petty  political bickerings are carried in to the college campus.

8.Transact business in the college office in a manner becoming of college student patiently and politely.

9. Students shall not organize or attend meetings other than official ones on the campus without the permission of the principal.

10. Any damage done to the college property will have to be made good.

11. Ragging is prohibited by law. Students who engage in such activities will be dismissed from the college.

12. Outsiders shall not be permitted to meet the students on the college campus without the permission of the Principal.

13. Any student or group of students, in the name of strike or agitation cannot prevent the staff or the principal from carrying out the duties. Stringent disciplinary action will be taken against such students.

14. Use of mobile phones, tablet pc and cameras are strictly prohibited on the campus.  

15.The Principal may impose the following punishments where ever necessary. (i) Fines (ii) Cancellation of attendance

(iii) Forfeiture of educational concession and scholarships. (iv) Suspension (v) Expulsion

16.Students are expected to spend their free hours in library. They should not loiter along the verandas

17. Prior permission of the principal  in writing is necessary for, a) Organising processions, meetings, or any special functions in the college. b) Collecting funds from the staff and students. c) Putting up any notice on the notice board in the college or on its premises

18.The principal will keep in touch with parents or guardians of the students who are very backward in their studies and whose attendance is very inadequate and conduct unsatisfactory. If the parents or guardians do not respond or do not take any interest in such matter the principal will take appropriate action.

19. No student shall indulge in any activity which may cause disruption to classes or disturbance in the college campus. If any student violates the above regulation, he is liable to be dismissed from the college.

20.Any issues which are not covered by these rules will be decided by the principal.

CCSS Monitoring Committee

The committee periodically evaluates the implementation of CCSS programme in general and the effective running of the open courses and continuous evaluation undertaken by various departments in particular.

Time Table Committee

 A Time Table Committee is formed at Mahatma Gandhi College for preparing and monitoring the allocation of class hours and well structured academic programme. So that all subjects gain their due share for academic activities. In times of need such as university examination for some semester, special time table is also prepared by this committee after consulting the faculty for the same. The following members belongs to the present time table Committee at Mahatma Gandhi College.
