In an attempt to familiarize folk art form ‘Mudiyettu’ to the present day generation, a colourful and spiritually charged performance by Sri. KeezhillamUnnikrishnan and Party from Perumbavoorwas organized at the college auditorium under the auspices of college folklore club and Kerala Folklore Academy on 19th January 2015. Inspired impersonation of characters with scintillating moments of dramatic conflicts involving the Goddess ‘Darika’ and the humorous interlude with ‘Kooli’ captivated the entire audience comprising students, staff and the people of the locality

‘GNOSIS’-Three day Seminar

A three day  seminar on all subjects was organized by IQAC on January 14th,15th and 16th, 2015.Dr.B.V. Lasitha, Member, Syndicate, Kannur University, inaugurated the programme. Dr. M.J. Mathew, Principal presided over the function. Sri. Pramod Kumar K.V, IQAC Co-ordinater welcomed the programme and Dr.Reji Paikkattu, proposed vote of thanks. The seminar covered the entire spectrum of English, Malayalam, Hindi, Physical Education, Statistics, Commerce, Mathematics and Physics and the different sessions provided enlightening explorations into exciting world of ideas.

College Library in association with Medi-Care Centre organized the ongoing programme of offering words of consolation and books that can heal the wounded minds – Words of Solace(Aksharaswanthwanam). Bed ridden patients were visited with consoling words and books having positive message by the volunteers of the programme.

Handloom Exhibition And Seminar


  E.D. Club of M.G. College in association with District Industries Centre conducted a mega handloom and textile exhibition on 7th January 2015 in the College Auditorium. There were stalls from thirty societies for the exhibition and sale of products of handloom and textiles. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. M.J. Mathew, Principal and competitions in Quiz, Essay Writing, Versification and Advertisement Slogans were conducted. The ensuing seminar was inaugurated by Sri. N.Ramakrishnan , Manager, DIC, Kannur. Sri.SaraschandranK, HOD,PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies welcomed the programme. Sri.Nimesh S (College Union Chairman) and Sri.Adarsh Kurian, (Association Secretary) spoke on the occasion. Dr.A. Jayasagar, Co-ordinator, EDClub, proposed vote of thanks.


Under the auspices of the College Union, the students and the staff of M.G. College welcomed the advent of a new year with fun and frolick , entertainments and distribution of sweets. An occasion of joy saturated with hopes and expectations…..

Alumni Day Celebrated


'Alumni Sangamam' along with ‘Snehavirunnu’ witnessed the coming together of the former students of MG College on 26th December 2014. This confluence of MG College fraternity was inaugurated by Dr.M.J.Mathew, the Principal. Sri.Vinod M.K, President, Alumni Association chaired the programme. Dr.Swarupa .R welcomed the gathering and Sri. C.S.Sebastion, Sri.Baby John Pinapillil, Dr.K V. Devadhasan, Dr.Bijumon.R, Dr.Dileep.M.A, Dr.Anoop.T.V  spoke on the occasion.




Mahatma Gandhi College Medi Care Centre extends its care and compassion to the differently abled through its noble project ‘Free Wheel Chair Mission’. The Cell has been functioning for the last eight years. Till date more than 500 wheel chairs have been distributed. On 7th October, 2014, in association with Green Leaf, Iritty, the Cell organized a Free Wheel Chair Distribution Programme in the College Open Air Auditorium. Adv. Sunny Joseph MLA was the chief guest.

Jeugoempresarian (Entrepreneurship) The PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies organized a two day inter-collegiate Management Fest on the 3rd and 4th September, 2014. Dr. VidhuSekhar, Director, Centre for Management Studies, Kannur University, Mangatuparamba  inaugurated the fest. 130 contestants from different colleges of Kannur University participated. 

The Kannur University inter collegiate Table Tennis Tournament  (Men & Women) was conducted at Mahatma Gandhi College. The program was inaugurated by Dr. P T Joseph, Director of Physical Education, Kannur University. Teams from different colleges affiliated to Kannur University participated in the three day championship.
