Handloom Exhibition And Seminar

  E.D. Club of M.G. College in association with District Industries Centre conducted a mega handloom and textile exhibition on 7th January 2015 in the College Auditorium. There were stalls from thirty societies for the exhibition and sale of products of handloom and textiles. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. M.J. Mathew, Principal and competitions in Quiz, Essay Writing, Versification and Advertisement Slogans were conducted. The ensuing seminar was inaugurated by Sri. N.Ramakrishnan , Manager, DIC, Kannur. Sri.SaraschandranK, HOD,PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies welcomed the programme. Sri.Nimesh S (College Union Chairman) and Sri.Adarsh Kurian, (Association Secretary) spoke on the occasion. Dr.A. Jayasagar, Co-ordinator, EDClub, proposed vote of thanks.

 

Under the auspices of the College Union, the students and the staff of M.G. College welcomed the advent of a new year with fun and frolick , entertainments and distribution of sweets. An occasion of joy saturated with hopes and expectations…..

Alumni Day Celebrated

'Alumni Sangamam' along with ‘Snehavirunnu’ witnessed the coming together of the former students of MG College on 26th December 2014. This confluence of MG College fraternity was inaugurated by Dr.M.J.Mathew, the Principal. Sri.Vinod M.K, President, Alumni Association chaired the programme. Dr.Swarupa .R welcomed the gathering and Sri. C.S.Sebastion, Sri.Baby John Pinapillil, Dr.K V. Devadhasan, Dr.Bijumon.R, Dr.Dileep.M.A, Dr.Anoop.T.V et.al  spoke on the occasion.

 

 

 

Mahatma Gandhi College Medi Care Centre extends its care and compassion to the differently abled through its noble project ‘Free Wheel Chair Mission’. The Cell has been functioning for the last eight years. Till date more than 500 wheel chairs have been distributed. On 7th October, 2014, in association with Green Leaf, Iritty, the Cell organized a Free Wheel Chair Distribution Programme in the College Open Air Auditorium. Adv. Sunny Joseph MLA was the chief guest.

Jeugoempresarian (Entrepreneurship) The PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies organized a two day inter-collegiate Management Fest on the 3rd and 4th September, 2014. Dr. VidhuSekhar, Director, Centre for Management Studies, Kannur University, Mangatuparamba  inaugurated the fest. 130 contestants from different colleges of Kannur University participated. 

The Kannur University inter collegiate Table Tennis Tournament  (Men & Women) was conducted at Mahatma Gandhi College. The program was inaugurated by Dr. P T Joseph, Director of Physical Education, Kannur University. Teams from different colleges affiliated to Kannur University participated in the three day championship.  

Upon the completion of the Ten years of its commendable service the college alumni association published its decennial news letter covering different activities and services rendered by the former students of the college on 18th September 2014. It was released by Sri. K P Noordheen, College Manager by handing it over to Dr. S Pradeep Kumar, Controller of Examination, Kannur University. Also an innovative program of colleges career guidance and placement cell - ' Earn while Learn' was inaugurated by the controller of of the examination in the same function.

Organ Donation Campaign

As a gesture of its commitment to the community and the society of which it is a part, the M G College fraternity organized an Organ Donation Campaign - 'DAWN' under the auspices of the college Medicare Cell and Lions Club Iritty. Adv Sunny Joseph MLA was the Guest of Honour, who inaugurated the program by handing over the consent letter for organ donation to Dr. M.J Mathew the Principal. Adv. Dennis Thomas conducted the awareness class on Organ Donation.

Merit Day Celebrated

With a view to honouring the students belonging to all departments who came out with flying colours at the university examination and entrance examination to premier institutions like central universities, IITs etc for higher studies, Merit Day was conducted by the college in association with the management and PTA. Mementos and cash awards were given to the student in recognition of their merit and academic excellence. College Manager Sri. K.P Noordheen Sahib, Ex Minister, was the Chief Guest.

A lively as well as informative programme for the newcomers and their parents was conducted on 2nd July 2014 under the aegis of college student welfare cell.
