    Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a Two day Total Quality Management Programme(TQM) for the Teaching and Administrative staff on 7th and 8th  August 2015. IQAC has organized this programme to ensure and enhance the quality parameters of the institution to necessitate optimum productivity. The Training programme entitled Prioritizing and Procrastination and Attitude is Altitudewere given to the Administrative and Teaching Staff  on 7th and 8th August respectively. The Principal Dr. M.J Mathew, inaugurated the Training Programme. Pramod Kumar K V, Convenor,IQAC  Coordinated the Two day Sessions. Mrs Preetha Varma from SB Global Institute was the faculty for the sessions. The timely refreshment and opportunity for self retrospection helped everybody to rejuvenate their caliber more effectively and enthusiastically.

Inter Collegiate Science Quiz Competition

In connection with the observation of ‘Chandra Dinam’ on 21st July, College Environment Club in association with “Green Leaf”, Iritty organized Inter Collegiate Science Quiz competition in which 20 teams from different colleges participated. Team from Nirmalagiri College, Kuthuparamba stood first  and M G College got the second prize. The third prize was secured by the team from PRNSS College Mattannur. Merit certificates, mementos and cash award worth Rs 5000, 3000 and 2000 respectively were awarded to the winning teams.

 

            College Principal, Dr. M J Mathew inaugurated the programme and Green Leaf Chairman C Ashraf presided over the programme. Priyanka P (Environment Club, Coordinator) Adv. K.Vinu - Greenleaf , Joshy N J-Greenleaf and Rajeesh E (Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science) spoke on the occasion.

In the College Auditorium, Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students of M G College, Iritty along with their parents was conducted on 10th July, 2015. College Principal Dr. M J Mathew inaugurated the programme. There was class on CBCSS by Prof. Meppayil Narayanana. Jithesh K (Department of Computer Science) and Jimly Manuel (Department of Mathematics) spoke on the occasion. Dr. K V Devadhasan, Shijo M Joseph, Saraschandran K, Dr. Bijumon R et.al were present on the dias. Around 150 students and their parents attended the orientation class. It was followed by department wise PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student, Association) meeting in which respective HODs and faculty members addressed the students and parents.

           In an attempt  to spread awareness regarding the threat posed by disease including Dongue Fever, College Medi-Care Centre conducted a campaign on 28/06/2015, as part of which volunteers visited 134 houses in the VIIIth ward of Keezhur Chavassery Panchayath and distributed leaflets containing details about precautionary measures to be adopted to contain the problem. Also, the volunteers collected details regarding dongue fever and other diseases in those housesvand handed over the survey report to Iritty Taluk Hospital. Health Inspector Rajesh V James inaugurated the programme and Rejeesh E, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator, Medi-Care Centre led the group of ten volunteers to conduct the survey and carry out the awareness campaign

Merit Day Celebrated

On 30th June 2015, in a grand function organized at the College  Auditorium, 45 students were honoured for their academic excellence in the form of securing A+ and A Grade in the recently published Kannur University UG and PG results and also for being qualified in National Level Entrance Tests to Central Universities, IITs, II Science etc. Along with this, Hima K, MCom student of Mahatma Gandhi College was honoured for the rare distinction of qualifying National Eligibility Test securing Lectureship of UGC. Under the auspicious of College Management and PTA , the programme was organized in which mementos, cash awards and prizes were distributed to the meritorious students for their academic distinction as a mark of recognition and further encouragement for future achievements. College Manager Sri. K P Noorudheen, Ex-Minister inaugurated the programme and College Principal Dr. M J Mathew presided over the function. Sri. Ramachandran K V , PTA Vice President, Sri C S Sebastian , Vice President, IES, Dr.  K V Devadhasan, Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Ajitha V, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Sri Saraschandran K, Head of the Department of Commerce, Sri Shijo M Joseph, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Bijumon R, PTA Secretary , Sri Valsaraj K and different student representatives from the array of the academic distinction spoke on the occasion.

Nature Club, in association with Green Leaf Iritty organized a programme at Iritty for the public [ ‘Veettu Pacha’ – Greenery at the Homestead ] as part of which five thousand saplings of Kari Veppu and Arya Veppu, both much valued for medicinal properties, were distributed in an attempt to encourage everyone to plant them for amplifying the greenery to save life. The programme which was conducted on 4th June 2015 on the eve of World Environment Day, was inaugurated by Adv. Sunny Joseph MLA by handing over the saplings to Dr. M J Mathew , College Principal. Green Leaf Chairman C Ashraf and other dignitaries participated. Twenty volunteers of Nature Club , under the leadership of Sri. Rejeesh E, Assistant Professor and Vidya T M, Assistant Professor and Nature Club Co-ordinator participated in the programme. The programme was widely appreciated by all people of the region as a constructive initiative of the college for the community and nature.

 

            On 5th June 2015 [ World Environment Day ] MG College NSS Unit in association with Lions Club , Iritty organized a programme on the College Campus. The NSS Volunteers planted around 150 saplings. Sri.  P Sukumaran , DYSP Iritty inaugurated and Dr. M J Mathew , the Principal, presided over the programme. Sri Shijo M Joseph, NSS Programme Officer and Ramachandran K, Lions Club President spoke on the occasion. 110 NSS volunteers actively participated to make it a constructive action for the creation of a sustainable order in nature.

College Day Celebration

M.G College Day was celebrated in all glitters and glamour on 16th March 2015. Noted Film star Sri. Kailas was the chief guest and College union Chairman Sri. Nimesh S presided over the programme. Principal Dr. M J Mathew delivered the keynote address. Sapna P(College Union Advisor) and Ramachandran K V  (P.T.A, Vice-president) spoke on the occasion.  There was variety entertainments by students of M.G College and also electrifying orchestra on the after noon to add to the air of festivity and joy.

Womens day celebrated

On the eve of world Women’s day, 8th March 2015, College Women’s Cell in association with College Union hosted variety of programmes. There was seminar on ‘Women Empowerment and Women Laws’ in which Adv. Sheeja Sebastian conducted the awareness class . It was followed by Photo Exhibition . Principal Dr. M J Mathew inaugurated the programme and Ms. Sapna P , Co-ordinatore , spoke on the occasion.

Nature Photo and Poster Exhibition

Nature club, in association with Green Leaf – Iritty conducted an exhibition of around 40 photos and posters depicting different aspects of nature and how it is adversely affected by man’s greed and unthinking , interventions. The exhibition conducted on 3rd March 2015, was an eye opener and provided deep insight for the upcoming generation. Ms. Vidya T M , co-ordinator , Nature Club master minded the exhibition aiming at eliciting proper awareness.

New Initiatives to Light the Path of Students
