Department of Physical Education

The Physical Education Department coordinates the sports and physical education activities which help students to perform well in the sport and games events at University, State and National level. The Department in collaboration with recognized institutions and trainers give coaching / training to students in various games like football, cricket, softball, chess, badminton, power lifting, table tennis, handball, athletics, fencing, swimming etc. The college has infrastructural and instructional facilities to coach / train students in sports and games considerable investment is made every year to purchase quality equipments.

The  college teams participate in inter collegiate tournaments. Many students are selected to the university teams. College also promote intramural competitions to promote sports culture on the campus.

About the Department

Statistics has been taught as complementary course for B.Sc Mathematics programme since the beginning of the college in 1995. From 1999 onwards it has been taught as complementary course for B.Sc Computer Science programme also.

2009 – 10 : Najmunisa.K and Refshana.C (IIIrd B.Sc Maths) won first place in state level statistics quiz held at CUSAT, Cochin.

2010 – 11 : Team comprising Athul .P and Suhail (III B.Sc Computer Science )won the University level statistics quiz conducted by CUSAT

2011 – 12 : Azif Navaz and Riyas (III B.Sc Maths won second place in state level statistics quiz held at CUSAT ,Cochin . They also won second place in state level US Nair memorial statistics quiz conducted by Kerala Statistical Association (KSA)

Department of Hindi

About the Department

Hindi is taught as Additional Common Course for B.Sc Physics and B.Sc Mathematics during the first four semesters of the programme. For B.Sc Computer Science, B.Com and B.B.A, Hindi has been taught as Additional Common Course during the first and second semester of the programmes. In order to meet the scholarly needs of the faculty and the student community, sufficient numbers of books and periodicals are available in the college library.

About the Department

As part of degree programme (B.Sc Physics, B.Sc Mathematics, B.Sc Computer Science and B. Com) offered at Mahatma Gandhi College since  1995 onwards , English has been taught during the first year for B.Com, B.Sc computer Science and B.B.A (Semester I & II at present )and during the first year and second year (Semester I,II,III,&IV at present ) for B.Sc Mathematics and B.Sc Physics.
